Training Programmes

Warden believe that our employees are our number one asset and we strive to invest in their career development and also provide training for the next generation to shape the future of our company and industry. We offer apprenticeships, work experience, trade, technical and management programmes.

Apprenticeships

Whether you are a school leaver, student, have many years of experience, or are wanting a career change, our apprenticeship scheme offers a wide range of opportunities across our company. Apprenticeships offers a perfect, structured programme and opportunity to ‘earn while you learn’ and career progression into a number of roles within the company. We recruit apprentices each year across various trade and technical backgrounds including bricklaying, joinery, painting and decorating, groundworks, estimating to quantity surveying.

Warden is committed to providing a quality Trade Apprenticeship Programme to equip local apprentices with the skillset, knowledge and practical experience for a promising future in an exciting industry. Our apprentices work towards practical and academic achievement with an established mentoring structure. The programme covers a wide range of construction techniques and skills leading to an NVQ. We are looking for bright, dedicated and motivated individuals to join our company and become part of our team where you can thrive and develop your skills and add value to our business.

Work Experience

The construction industry is a diverse, exciting and ever-changing industry. Work experience is a fantastic way to gain a real insight into working in the construction industry. Gaining hands on experience and a greater understanding of the various roles and challenges can help to shape a career choice that is right for you. Warden offer various unpaid, structured work experience placement opportunities both within the head office and on our construction sites. You will work alongside Warden’s experienced employees to gain an insight into what it is like working for a busy, long established, expanding business with exciting construction projects.

Technical Programme

We have developed a Technical / Professional training programme for local school leavers, enabling them to graduate with a university qualification including HNC, by attending college and university on a day release basis. We support our trainees through a range of undergraduate programmes such as BSc Quantity Surveying, HNC in Construction or BSc Commercial Management, while working between our commercial and estimating departments. The trainee gains a real insight into working for the estimating and commercial teams and develops their learning through work shadowing, providing assistance to the teams with the aim to work towards becoming a Quantity Surveyor / Estimator on their own construction projects.

Management and Professional Programmes

The ideal profile for a manager in construction is one with a practical background. Warden encourages newly qualified tradespersons to gain management skills early in their career. All tradespersons have been offered the opportunity to supervise projects or sections of projects and enter the management programme. Newly qualified tradespersons are also assessed for entry onto a graduate programme to undertake a HNC in Construction Management.

At Warden, we recognise the benefits of developing our senior and board level employees. All senior management are encouraged to work towards professional accreditation and are targeted to achieve NVQ Level VII within first three years of employment. All senior management accredited by the professional body attributed to their skill for example CIOB / RICS.
