Student Accommodation Development Unveiled
KEMP STREET, STUDENT ACCOMMODATION DEVELOPMENT FLEETWOOD
Warden Construction is delighted to announce that, following the commission of Wood Associates Architects, a scheme has been submitted to Wyre Borough Council planning authority which will see the regeneration of the derelict former Harlequin nightclub site on Kemp Street in Fleetwood.
The proposed £2.5m scheme would have the capacity to house 66 students in purpose built fully en-suite accommodation and would be the only privately operated development of this kind in the Fleetwood area.
It would offer students high-quality, value for money accommodation ideally located close to the Fleetwood Nautical Campus and the towns amenities. Such premium, safe and central student accommodation is sure to have a positive impact on the growing Nautical Campus’s ability to attract students to undertake their studies in Fleetwood and has been welcomed by Blackpool and Fylde College.
The new building will see the currently derelict building, which has been the subject of anti-social behaviour, demolished and the site transformed with a modern building using contemporary architecture that will compliment some of the more traditional surrounding buildings.
The facilities that will be provided in the new building will mirror those to be found in modern day student accommodation in all the major cities around the UK, which are conducive to a peaceful and secure working environment for students.
The new building would house students from around the UK and abroad undertaking a range of nautical related courses. The operation of the building will provide local employment opportunities and be managed in accordance with a code of conduct that will ensure it has a positive impact on the surrounding area. The students it will house will bring life and vitality to the area and give a much needed boost to the town centre economy.
As developer and contractor, Warden Construction would expect to provide significant opportunities during the construction phase of the scheme. The Company’s sustainability policy is such that it aims to source as much of the resources for a project from the local area. It will not only be of benefit to employment opportunities in the area but there will be significant opportunities for local businesses who wish to get involved in the scheme.
